This one day course is to train the Interventional Fellow or practicing IC Physician the basics of intracardiac ultrasound imaging and the procedure of obtaining transseptal access. The course curriculum includes didactic sessions discussing the anatomically guided approach to transseptal access as well as an intra-cardiac echocardiography guided approach utilizing the ACUNAV Catheter. This program is designed to provide an introductory to moderate understanding of ultrasound as used in the IC Setting and to provide an opportunity for participants to enhance their skills during the Transseptal procedure.
Upon completion of this activity, the physician should be able to:
- Have a Basic Understanding of Intracardiac Ultrasound
- Identify anatomical structures inside the heart
- Manipulate the ICE catheter to achieve all standard views
- Differentiate normal and abnormal intracardiac anatomy
- Understand the value of using ICE for safety and efficacy during procedures

The Practical AFib course provides training on contemporary techniques of the ablation for Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation. The course content focuses on mastering workflow of three essential steps of the procedure: 3D mapping (Map), irrigated ablation (Ablate), and use of a circular mapping catheter (Validate). The course is conducted by our experienced faculty of physicians and industry experts and will provide you with the practical knowledge and know-how for PAF ablation procedure. Information presented will guide you from the early steps of patient selection all the way to the final stage of discharge and follow-up. This includes how to avoid transseptal complications, optimal anticoagulation settings, tips on how to shorten procedure time, increase efficiency and settings for using the THERMOCOOL® Catheter. The THERMOCOOL® Catheter is the only catheter that is FDA approved for the ablation of the symptomatic drug refractory Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation when used with CARTO® Systems.
